- Efficacy: Quaternary-based disinfectants like Biocide Plus are generally considered to be more effective at killing a wider range of bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms than AHP products at lower concentration levels. Biocide Plus is both a viricidal and bactericidal disinfectant at just one ounce per gallon.*
- Corrosiveness**: Some AHP products can be more corrosive than quaternary-based disinfectants, which means that they may damage certain types of materials if they come into contact with them. This is because AHP products are naturally highly acidic and can cause damage to metal surfaces.
- Odor: AHP products can sometimes have a strong, unpleasant odor that some people find unpleasant.
*The exception to this main dilution rate is parvovirus for which Biocide Plus requires a 4.5 ounce per gallon dilution.

With a pH between 1-2 and still highly acidic at the 8 ounce per gallon diluted ratio, the product will corrode metal surfaces. We've received multiple customer testimonies about this. Because of the low pH of AHP disinfectants, it is generally recommended to rinse surfaces with water after use to neutralize the acidity and prevent any potential damage. This is typically stated in the manufacturer's instructions and it is good practice to rinse the surface after cleaning with AHP disinfectant to prevent any damage. It is also important to follow any other safety precautions that are listed on the product label or in the manufacturer's instructions.
