"fear free"...really?
There is a marketing movement driven by a foreign based chemical company (scratch) based in Canada that use of their product makes a facility “FEAR FREE” but is it really that simple? Is it really safer and better to use than the Quaternary Disinfectants that are the American standard for use in the animal environment.
The AHP products feature a formulation using hydrogen peroxide and a detergent solution that has been “Accelerated” by depressing the pH with a strong acid. They call this Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide or “AHP”. They claim that it will allow a fearless environment for pets and users and that "traditional" methods and types of cleaners “used in the past” are harsh and that AHP’s are better for your facility and personnel. We have to ask whether a strong acid is safer to handle than a neutral late generation quat disinfectant cleaner which are typically formulated in the Neutral pH range (neither strong acid or strong base).
However, despite the marketers claims, we can find scant evidence that it is really producing a less fearful environment in your facility or is safer for your personnel to use. We have put together the following presentation to allow you to decide if AHP products are any safer or provide any advantages over latest-generation Quaternary based disinfectants like Biocide Plus.
At Care Labs, we stress safety and proper caution when using ANY and ALL chemicals. Instead of promoting the idea that certain chemicals are safe, our approach is to eliminate contact of chemicals with personnel or animals. Proper cleaning procedures and safety equipment (PPE’s) should be used for ALL CHEMICALS, even for products that are presented as the same as the Hydrogen Peroxide in your medicine cabinets but are really combinations of acids and other chemicals that are necessary for them to perfom as labeled.
We invite you to see our presentation:
